Ecuador To Take UK To International Criminal Court

Ecuador has granted political asylum to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. The decision comes almost two months after the world-famous whistleblower came to the country’s embassy in London seeking protection.

British threats to storm Ecuador’s embassy in order to arrest Julian Assange, in violation of international law, set a dangerous precedent, analyst Mark Weisbrot told RT. Ecuador granting Assange asylum is a blow to Washington, he said.

Ecuador’s move to grant Julian Assange political asylum has shown the true face of the current world order, highlighting more clearly than ever the line between the American Empire and the rest of the world, former CIA officer Ray McGovern told RT.

Julian Assangehas hailed Ecuador’s decision to grant him political asylum as a courageous act. He said Quito’s resolve sharply contrasts with Britain and his country of birth Australia, who left him high and dry.
