A 51-year-old registered nurse is in serious trouble with the law for allegedly faking a COVID vaccination for a 15-year-old schoolboy.
Christina Benz appeared before a magistrate on Monday faced with a single charge of “gaining a benefit by fraud”.
The court was told Christina Benz sought and was given permission to give the COVID vaccination to family and friends while she was working at the Victoria Park respiratory clinic.
That included her parents and her chiropractor husband Gordon.
She has been accused by police of trying to obscure the view of a doctor who insisted on observing when a person known to her visited the clinic on Sunday.
It’s alleged she put the needle in the teenager’s arm but didn’t administer it.
It’s further alleged she recorded the name of another person as having administered the vaccine on an official record.
The doctor fired her on the spot and called the police.
On Monday, Benz was granted bail and ordered not to work as a registered nurse.
She has also been ordered not to contact any of the people that she has vaccinated at the clinic.
