Archivists who bought a stash of CDs at a house clearance sale discovered 2,400 photos of Ground Zero in New York taken following the 9/11 assaults in 2001.
They seem to have been taken by an as but unidentified building employee who helped to clear up the wreckage of the World Trade Center towers and surrounding space.
The CDs have been in poor situation however the knowledge was finally retrievable.
The archivists have uploaded the photos to Flickr.
The digital albums embrace photos of Ground Zero itself taken each at floor stage and from above, building workers at work and the broken interiors of the blocks surrounding the towers.
