It was a sonic boom from military aircraft that made the ground shake all over South Jersey on Saturday morning.

Sea Isle City Police and the Cumberland County Office of Emergency Management tell the Star Ledger that “military activity over the ocean resulted in the boom around 11AM. Residents all over reported the ground shake all over southern & central New Jersey between North Brunswick and Ventnor.

“I felt it in Atlantic County.. there was a good amount of shaking in the building I was in… Shook the garage door and walls a lot and was super loud,” wrote a contributor to the Jersey Shore Hurricane News Facebook page. Amy Leslie wrote about feeling a “shaking in South Jersey” on the NJ101.5 Facebook page.

Others who felt the shaking suspected activity on the McGuire-Fort Dix-Lakehurst Joint Base.
