Police say a whale has washed ashore in the Breezy Point section of Queens in New York City.
The beached humpback whale was reported at around noon ET Wednesday.
New York Police Department officers and Riverhead Foundation personnel were responding to the scene.
According to the website Gothamist.com, the Coast Guard reports the 30-foot whale was still alive as of noon ET.
Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department members are currently pumping seawater on the whale to keep it alive, Gothamist.com reports.
