    A large and rising crack in a hillside above an Altoona-area buying middle has prompted 52 companies there to shut Thursday as crews try to repair the issue, in response to WTAJ TV in Altoona.

    WTAJ reported that Penelec, which gives electrical energy within the area, shut off energy to companies within the middle out of concern {that a} portion of the hill may slide, and take down energy traces above the Logan Town Center.

    “There is the potential that exists for that mountainside to slide into our facilities and knock those facilities to the ground,” Penelec spokesman Scott Surgeoner advised WTAJ. We do not need to see that. It would lead to unsafe circumstances for patrons or retailer homeowners in that space.”

    The Altoona Mirror reported final week that the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency final week gave the middle’s homeowners an emergency allow to permit repairs to be made.
