    The Colorado Senate this week handed a bill that might award the state’s electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins the nationwide popular vote.

    The Senate handed the measure alongside celebration traces in a 19-16 vote Tuesday, sending the bill to the state House for consideration.

    The bill, referred to as the the nationwide popular vote interstate compact, was sponsored by state Sen. Mike Foote (D), would require Colorado members of the Electoral College to solid their vote for the winner of the nationwide popular vote.

    The state’s 9 electoral votes at the moment go towards the candidate who wins the vast majority of votes in Colorado.
