    God Bless America singer banned over ‘racist’ 1930s songs

    Once described as “imperishable emblem of America,” Kate Smith has been blacklisted by two main sports activities groups and her recording of ‘God Bless America’ pulled, on grounds that two of her different 1930s songs have been racist and offensive.

    On Friday, the Philadelphia Flyers hockey crew coated up a statue of Smith exterior their area with black tarp, issuing a press release that “several songs performed by Kate Smith contain offensive lyrics that do not reflect our values as an organization.” The Flyers are additionally eradicating Smith’s recording of ‘God Bless America’ from their library, the crew stated.
