    Court orders Julian Assange to stay in prison while awaiting US extradition

    A decide has ordered Julian Assange to stay in prison indefinitely while awaiting extradition to the US due to his “history of absconding.”

    The WikiLeaks founder was due to be launched on September 22 after serving his sentence for breaching bail situations when he sought refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. Assange spent nearly seven years contained in the embassy. 

    On Friday the Westminster Magistrates’ Court claimed there have been “substantial grounds” for believing he would flee if launched from prison. District Judge Vanessa Baraitser mentioned Assange’s lawyer had not made an utility for bail on his behalf, including “perhaps not surprisingly in light of your history of absconding in these proceedings.”

    WikiLeaks and Assange’s mom Christine criticized the courtroom proceedings, saying the decide had refused bail earlier than the protection group had an opportunity to even request it.

    The extradition listening to will begin on February 25, 2020, after British Home Secretary Sajid Javid signed off on the extradition request in June. The Australian citizen is preventing extradition to the US the place he faces prosecution for allegedly leaking authorities secrets and techniques.
