The county launched their new online video visitation system Wednesday.Family or loved ones can now talk with inmates from home through their computer. No more in-person visits are allowed. Video chatting online from a jail cell might seem like a privilege, but that’s not the intent of the “video visitation” implemented by the Travis County Jail systems.

The US House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to reject an attempt to reign in domestic spying by the National Security Agency following a storm of lobbying by the White House against the measure. Just several days ago workers of one Belorussian farm killed an unknown animal that had been attacking cows and calves biting their feet. The local veterinarian examined the animal and told that it was the smallest of the three alike creatures seen in that district. Two others managed to escape. The vet cannot say what species of the animal it is. Hunters have disputes about it too. Some of them believe it is a mutant of some species.

Ten College Republicans were dubbed a security threat and refused admittance to President Barack Obama’s speech at the University of Central Missouri on Wednesday. Despite the fact that the students had tickets to the event, security personnel turned them away at the door to the recreation center where Obama gave a speech on economic policy, telling the group it wasn’t about their politics but the president’s safety, State Treasurer of the College Republicans Courtney Scott told The College Fix.
A sewage treatment plant will soon serve as Santa Clara County’s newest source of water: pre-treated wastewater will soon be used for electrical fountains, fire hydrants, and landscaping, and might eventually replace tap water in residents’ homes.
