The family of a 13-year-old girl who was raped by a local police officer is suing the town they say hired the man without conducting an adequate background check. A proper investigation, they claim, would show that he raped another girl two years earlier. Jaymin Lenwood Murphy was sentenced in 2010 to 41 years in prison for sexual offenses against both girls.

A Colorado-based white supremacist has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of a prison chief, which investigators believe may be the work of a dangerous prison gang. James Lohr, who authorities have called a “known associate” of the white supremacist prison gang 211 Crew, was captured by the Colorado Springs Police Department Thursday night. The 47-year-old man was pulled over by police and then tried to escape on foot.
A US Army major general facing alcohol and sexual misconduct charges has been fired from his post at the US Africa Command, with officials citing the reason for his termination as “loss of confidence”. Army Maj. Gen. Ralph Baker, commander of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, was relieved of his duties on March 28.
